Mario and Jalisha realized their dream of homeownership when they purchased a home in Atlanta, Georgia. They have a story that is equal parts heartbreaking and inspiring. Jalisha is from Queens, New York and was two when her mother passed away. Shortly after that, her father went to jail and she was raised by her aunt in St. Petersburg, Florida. When she was in the 10th grade, her aunt had a massive stroke and was left paralyzed on one side of her body. Jalisha was then raised by her cousins and church family until she graduated from high school. She briefly attended college before dropping out due to “life circumstances.” She is committed to finishing school and recently enrolled to earn her Bachelor’s in Business Administration at an online university through a pilot program offered at her job. She regularly leads worship at her church and longed for homeownership so she and her husband could start their family and put down roots, and change the narrative of her family’s future. And we helped them do just that. The house will be completed next month.
