Rodney and Nicole both grew up in South Los Angeles. Rodney was born in Compton and later moved to Paramount with his mom but spent every day in Compton at the house his grandmother owned. His grandmother and that house became a symbol of stability and safety in a family where 95% of his family members have been lifelong renters.
With the assistance of a $60,000 down payment grant from Greenline, Rodney and Nicole were recently able to purchase a home in Compton, California.
Rodney hopes becoming a homeowner will inspire and give hope to other members of his family to not let the dream of homeownership die. As Rodney and Nicole think about starting a family of their own, owning a home represents stability and legacy for that future family and we couldn’t be happier for them.
