Karla was born and raised in South Los Angeles. Growing up, she lived in rented apartments as her parents worked tirelessly to provide for her and her siblings. Their strong work ethic set an example for her as she attended college studying Computer Science and Engineering, and is now a computer science engineer living in South Los Angeles and giving back to her community.
Jose, the son of parents who immigrated to America to pursue a better life, grew up in California as well. He was the first person in his family to attend college studying Biology and he is now a lab technician.
With the help of Greenline, Karla and Jose were recently able to become the first people in their families to purchase a home! Homeownership for them is not just a personal accomplishment but a symbol of hope and a reminder of the importance of hard work and perseverance.
