Adriana and Sal

Their distant dream of homeownership becomes a reality.

Adriana and Sal

When you look at Adriana and Sal’s life journeys and journey to homeownership, the overriding theme is that they were both raised by strong mothers. For Adriana her father died when she was a teenager and it was her mom – her love, strength, and support that got Adriana through the rest of high school, college, and beyond. For Sal, he was raised by a single mother that worked multiple jobs and while Sal and his siblings might not have had everything they wanted, they definitely had everything they needed.

Adriana’s mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers and recently had to move in with Adriana and Sal but they didn’t have a bedroom for her, she ended up sleeping on their couch. Even with good jobs and working hard to save money for a downpayment, the idea of owning a home felt like a distant dream. That’s when Greenline came into the picture and awarded them a $38,000 down payment grant.

Adriana and Sal’s dream of homeownership recently became a reality when they were able to purchase a home in Hacienda Heights. Now Adriana’s mom has her own room and space, they have a yard for their dogs, and a piece of property they can call their own that can serve as a form of generational wealth for their future family.
